Super Puzzle Fighter HD (Xbox360 Arcade)

Back in the days (late 90’s), I am so used to hang out with my buddy, playing snookers, cards in a billiard place. I remember that is a also a few video game machine sitting there. The most popular games at that time is King of Fighter and some pinball machine. However, the one that I actually love is “Puzzle Fighter”. I used to spend so much time on that game and I even played a few times on the PS version. But nothing coming close to this Xbox 360 Live arcade version. “Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix”

Despite this name is a bit clumsy and long (lol), this is an excellent game to spend time with, well worth my 800 MS points. Online play is a nice add-on this addictive game. However, the online activities quiet down drastically since it is released on late Aug 2008, The players that still playing this game is godlike. They have flawless skill and lighting speed that will own you in less than 30 seconds.
The new Y and Z mode that are introduced to XBLA is a waste to this game. Personallly I am fond of the new style of playing. I barely make it to get the "alternate life style" achivement. Speaking of achivement, I think I am going to give up on the 7-chain combos one. Anyone have hints or tips for me to get it? the max that I can create sucessfully is a 6 hit combo. (damn.. I am going to try it later on tonite.)

[edited: finally got the chain of jewels achivement. My first ever 200/200 achivement !! yay.. as I expected it is a test of endurance and luck. I setup the 6 x 6 combo and by luck it chain to the crash gem on the side]

N3: Ninety Nine Nights (XBOX 360)

Yay.. I should have put up this blog long time ago after my 1000/1000 achivements done. I was just too lazy for that for the past few weeks. After endless hours for trying on Rank A on Castle of VarVazzar (Ashpharr) and Ywe-Ue-Uar Forrest (Inphyy), all of a sudden. I got that achivement.
It was the most weirdest achivement that I have got so far in the xbox360experience.

The Mystery of the Orb

Once, the races of the world coexisted in peace, a peace made possible by the power of the Orb, which unified the world. But when the Orb mysteriously shattered, the world split into Light and Dark and the races were consumed by mutual doubt and suspicion. When that doubt turned to mistrust, the division of the world came to pass. From that moment on, each was entangled in conflict. This is the tale of that conflict, of the yet unnamed war – the great clash between Light and Dark.

Story Background

The King of Ninety-Nine-Nights

The orb created the earth itself, but the prosperity that it made possible was less than overlasting. An ancient demon of darkness was revived, and the world was covered in the darkness of an eternal night. The demon led his clan of darkness in ravagin the face of the earth, gripping the population in a strangehold of fear. Soon, the keeper of the orb and his disciples took to arms to face this threat. These heroes, with their combined powers, managed to restore light to the world. Their victory occured on exactly the one hundredth day after the revival of ancient demon. From that day onward, the demon would be known as the King of Ninety-Nine-Nights.

The Origin of the Dual Orbs

On that hundredth day, darkness was swept away and the world was once again blessed with the power of orb. But this period of peace was not destinied to last. A goblin disicple of the keeper orb saw flames erupt from the alter of the orb, and what he found next would usher in a era of chaos: his master, the keeper, murdered and an second discipline, a human, feling with a fluorescing shard of the orb (the light orb) clutched in his hands. Standing within the altar's flames, the goblin grapsed the remaining half of the orb (the Dark Orb) and swore vengeance agains the race of humans.

The War of Division

The unsuing war over the orbs, pitting human against Goblin, lasting for generations. This conflict, which would later be known as war of Division, tilted in favor of the humans and their light orbs when the Elves decided to lend them their power. The Goblins and the Dark Orb were forced to retreat into the forbidden forest of the lost. In the end, the humans were victorious. Their triumph marked the beginning of the mannaz calendar and a great era of human Posperity.

The War with No Name

Time passed, and the goblin king, the self-proclaimed master of darkness, regrouped his forces and declared war on the humans, sounding the death knell for the era of human peace. Terrified by the return of the goblins, the forces of light fell into disarray in the face of rumours that a lord of Darkness of Ancient Legend was lending his power to the Goblin King. Finally, the Royal Forces organized an army centered on the Temple Knights and launched a Counter Attack. Thusm the great conflict that pitted the forces of Light against Dark began. It would be known only as the "War With No Name".....

Today, the world is locked in a long and vicious conflict between the forces of light and dark. Until recently, the forces of Dark enjoyed a slight advantage, but the momentum of battle is shifting quickly with the forces of light now under the leadership of the Temple Knights. And the Elves have once again lent their power to the forces of light.
The forces of Dark, utilizing legions composed mainly of Goblins and Orcs, are steadily penetrating human territories. Rumor has it that this is due in part of the assistance of the King of Knights. Furthermore, the forces of dark have gained much from their cooperation with the Arphann (Dark Elves), the sworn enemies of the Arff (Light Elves) and the outland tribes, who seek to expand their territories. The Arphann, commanders of dragons are particularly cunning allies for the forces of Darkness..

Relationship Between the Races

Forces of Light :Leader:Temple Knights

Forces of Dark

Notes :

* Many consider Inphyy and Aspharr, both Temple Knights, to be the spiritual leaders of the Forces of Lights

* Rumor has it the Goblin King is supported byy the King of Nights

* Dark Elves are Trainers and commanders of Dragons.

(Story):For some reason, this game really reminds me those choose-your-own-adventure game book when I was a kid. This game unfold the story based on different character's perspective and have different ending. Quite a few of the gamers found this is confusing, personally I love how this game setup and the plot of N3.

(Plot)
However, there is one major flaw of it. After completing N3, I have a strong feeling that this game is unfinished yet. Different names get introduced throughout the game and seems like they are going to have a major role carrying out the story. It is not going to be happened. Other reviews showing this is a result of rushing the game so fast to the market and I totally agreed with it.

(Gameplay)
That's the gem of this this game. Most of the combos of the characters can be performed based on two buttons on the controllers. Make you feel like a genuis or something. I am not an expert on buttons-smashing games and I only got some S ranks + all A ranks to join the 1000/1000 club. With playing .hack//origin OSD as the background music. This game is really awesome for killing time and release stress from a long day work.
